Assessing Change

Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC), Columbus, Ohio
Michael (Mike) Randle, Assistant Deputy Director, Office of Administration
A corrections agency turned to the strategic triangle and performance measurement model for vetting organizational initiatives and departmental policy changes.

Mike Randle attended Leading with Vision, Value and Strategy in February 2003, along with 23 other DRC executives.  Mike said he found the strategic triangle and performance measurement model to be a great tool for assessing an organizational initiative or change.  It provided a framework for him to ask a very fundamental organizational question: “Do conditions exist to successfully implement change?”

Mike used the triangle model to assess a major new DRC policy and philosophy change, The Reentry Initiative, and based on that assessment, he developed a presentation to the DRC executive group.  Attached is his presentation, “Correctional Agency Changes: Applying the Value-Created Model.”
